An Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile fires from HMAS Melbourne's MK-41 vertical launcher during training in the East Australian Exercise Area off the New South Wales coast. *** Local Caption *** HMAS Melbourne successfully fired two Evolved Sea Sparrow Missiles off the New South Wales coast on 24 June 2015. The firings were conducted against an unmanned aerial target launched from the Beecroft Range at Jervis Bay. Melbourne is currently conducting mariner and war fighting training in preparation for an operational deployment.
